I had a GREAT workout on the track last night (in significantly less than ideal conditions) as sort of a tune-up for tomorrow's 5k. It was the first time I wore my Brooks T6 racers and HOLY CRAP(!) I'm in love. Today I'll just do an easy/recovery paced 4-5 mile shakeout and maybe some strides at the end.
So what is everyone else up to today, training and otherwise?
Question! I'm in charge of Thanksgiving dinner this year. So I need recipes and cooking suggestions! Anything from the starters to the dessert is welcome and appreciated!
Little boy: The Russians eat brains? Mom, looking at cookbook: This is a French cookbook. Little boy: The french eat brains?! Mom: Not human brains. Animals'. Little boy: That's disgusting! Mom: Yes, it's very high in cholesterol.
2:54a INJURED DOG ASSISTANCE - HELP NEEDED ASAP
my friend's dog was hit by a car tonight and she is badly injured. she was bleeding from the inside of her leg and is in a lot of pain. however, my friend's dad doesn't want to take the dog to the hospital. i honestly think it's because he doesn't want to fork over another vet bill since the dog has been sick, and she already has a cone around her neck to prevent her from gnawing at her skin infection.
i personally would take her myself and get her treated, but i can't afford the cost since i was recently laid off, and i can't assume responsibility for the dog. but i know i can't just sit by and do nothing while she suffers.
is there a place or website i can go to for help or assistance? i am not asking for donations. i just want to know if there are any animal hospitals throughout LA and OC that are willing to treat injured dogs regardless of vet bills, having to make payments, pay what you can, etc, and if so what are their policies and where are they located? thank you very much.

Obviously inebriated brunette: So... I'm pretty sure I'm going to die tonight. Obviously inebriated blonde: Well, if we do, I think I should put up a Facebook status so everyone knows. Obviously inebriated brunette: I'm pretty sure the tox screen will show it. (ten seconds later) Obviously inebriated brunette: Kill me. Oh, wait, no need. I'll be dead in three hours. Obviously inebriated blonde: Just don't go dying in my bed... that's creepy. (five seconds later) Obviously inebriated brunette: Um... did you just burp? Obviously inebriated blonde: Yeah. Why? Obviously inebriated brunette: Because it just went up my nose. Obviously inebriated blonde: Now... that's legendary.

I found my boyfriend from livejournal so why not a roommate. The basics on the place is that I live right by 26th and Wilshire in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom townhouse and am renting out one of the rooms for $850.
So, I'm a 27 year old stoner chick who is a total dork and generally compared to a dude by everyone I know. My sense of humor is just wrong. I am really way too excited about having a projector that turns our living room wall into a 13ft television. I don't bring a ton of people over, and am pretty quiet when I'm home. My boyfriend shares the master bedroom with me. Complete computer nerd. Misspent his youth on the Something Awful forums. He works on some electronic music but always with headphones so again, quiet.
You can see pictures and details of the place in this here craigslist ad I hope it's cool to post this all here. Thanks.
8:54p getting a bit discouraged...any words of wisdom?
A couple of weeks ago I was up to running over 3 miles (my longest run being 4 miles). It was difficult, but I could do it (I have a 5K coming up on December 5th). However, the last two times I've been out running I've barely made it half that distance before hitting the wall and having to walk. Its not like I've taken any time off or anything and I can't understand how I've regressed so fast. Tonight, I just got back home after running a measely 1.5 miles.
It has gotten colder here in Boston, but I don't think that is to blame. Is this normal? Do you have to take a couple of steps back to get ahead again?
Here I thought I've made it so far only to realize that I have a very long way still to go.

are there any low-cost vets in LA that see small animals? i have a pet rat with a possible respiratory infection, and not very much money. (any estimate on how much a vet is going to charge me to tell me if she's sick, and how much for medication if so too? i've never taken a rat to a vet before.) pretty much anywhere in LA is okay (the less i have to drive to the valley always the better, though), i work in miracle mile and live south of downtown so i can't see there being many vets near either place. my roommate and i go down to huntington beach a lot so even down there or on the way would be cool too.
